25 Things About Me: Part 2
2) I know little to nothing about pop culture, world history, geography, politics, economics or current affairs.
I live under a rock, basically. I’m much better informed when I am around Christopher, or have a social group that discusses different topics. I love trying to be a quick learner, soaking all the information in, trying to piece what they are talking about together, listening to different opinions, and, after enough exposure to a certain topic, finally formulating an opinion of my own so that I can contribute to the conversation without coming off as an ignorant fool. Still, I’m just an intellectual wannabe and find it hard to seek out all that information on my own.
I’ve attempted to read about a lot of things – and if I can get through a book or bits of news, or even a Wikipedia article, it really does help – but it’s just so much work to catch up/ keep up and much easier to simply ask Christopher to tell me what I need to know. Sometimes, I really feel like I should make a larger effort because I want to come off as intelligent and it’s hard to do when you’re not well-read. I really do feel like an ignoramus in “intelligent” company – the kind of crowd I naturally gravitate toward.
I am, however, becoming somewhat of an expert when it comes to talking about China from a sociocultural perspective, human relationships, early childhood education and personality typing and well, myself. But what’s the point? Nobody ever wants to talk about those things.
